I think nothing can be replaced.

you can use engine from other skoda: skoda 130, skoda favorit or felicia. also u can use flange between engine and gear box from felicia 1.6 and 1.9, and use vw engine 1.3, 1.6, 1.8, or also make yourself a flange an put alfa engine, ford escort engine
