Wink Skoda Fabia: temp gauge

Evening
If nothing else this car keeps me on my toes!
If I leave the car to tick over then the temp gauge goes up an rests in the middle something like normal but as soon as I set off then the gauge drops down to nothing, warm air is still coming out of the vents. Any ideas?
Thanks

I agree with Jaybee, I have a 51 plate 1.9 sdi and the temp gauge goes all over the place, but not hot. According to the service records (just bought the car) it has a new thermostat. I have my doubts, soon find out as it is on my list now the snow has gone.

strangely my car had a reversing lights problem, it was the gearbox sensor. Had it done by a garage (shame on me) as the windscreen washers were also defunct, so both were sorted. £100, saved me lying on the snow!
