Default Skoda in Australia

Hi new member here,

Skoda have just been released in Australia and I find myself in need of a new car.

I have my eye on a 2.0 turbo Diesel Octavia Estate, possibly 4WD.

So I am not making the same mistake when I bought my C5 Diesel, are there any issues with these Skoda?

Principally, I bought the Citroen with longevity and economy in mind. While it is fairly frugal with fuel, servicing costs and the frequency thereof is very poor.

eg 3 year timing belt change interval $2000.00
Front brake rotors flogged out at first pad change 47000 km and special tools required to change them, necessitating a visit to a dealership and the costs inherent therein.

And there is there is the non-availability of generic parts. every service will mean a genuine pollen filter, whatever that does, a Diesel particulate filter, a fuel filter, oil filter and so the list goes on to the tune of $600 - 800 every service.

Purchase price is quite low and they have VW engines out here.

Any feed back received with thanks!
